PPCI - LEVEL 1

Your Journey Begins

Level I (Four Modules)

This course starts your journey to becoming a Pilates Instructor. Conducted over four modules, our focus is on the introductory and beginner exercises and gives you the skills to teach both group and 1:1 sessions across Mat and apparatus.

​​Prerequisites 

The completion of study guide assignments and hours for each Module, prior to the module start date. It is recommended, but not required, that the participant enters with an understanding of basic anatomy from previous certifications in fitness and movement, or through an online or live anatomy course. Additionally, we recommend that the instructor take a minimum of 10 classical Pilates private lessons or group classes. Required reading: Return to Life through Contrology (Joseph H. Pilates and William John Miller), and Your Health (Joseph. H. Pilates). To be eligible for the Level I assessment, you are required to complete all Study Guide assignments, as well as all 120 logged hours of observation, exercise technique, and practice teaching.

Module 1 

You will explore the introductory exercises for the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac and Wall. You will be introduced to the anatomy of the Powerhouse and how it relates to Pilates and movement. You will also gain an understanding of foundational movement principles and Pilates history. Additionally, you will discover how to use the 5-Part Formula in teaching an introductory full session private lesson.
Learn to perform and teach the Introductory & Beginning exercises for the mat,
reformer, Cadillac/tower, high and low chairs, small barrel, spine corrector, ladder
barrel, wall and power circle.

Module 2 

Learn Level I Add-in exercises for the mat, reformer and Cadillac.

  • Discover new Part C exercises on small barrel and ladder barrel.

  • Add on to Part D with Power Circle exercises.

  • Deepen your ability to apply the 5-Part Formula for Success to ensure effective teaching

  • Explore touch technique in teaching.

  • Examine movement patterns and how they reverberate through the Pilates system.

  • Benefit from personalized coaching on live courses that are aimed at accelerating

  • practical skills.

Module 3 

Learn new Part C exercises for the Cadillac, barrel and chair exercises.

  • Deepen your ability to apply the 5-Part Formula for Success to ensure effective teaching.

  • Develop stronger skills for group mat and reformer teaching.

  • Explore the use of props in progression.

  • Discover how to intake individuals with health and orthopedic issues

  • Explore strategies for teaching individuals with chronic lower back pain of an unspecific nature

Module 4 

Time to shine! Prepare for assessment: Theoretical, Exercise Technique, Practical Teaching of individual and group (mat and reformer).

  • Hone teaching skills in readiness for real life teaching and assessment.

  • Deepen your ability to apply the 5-Part Formula for Success to ensure effective teaching.

  • Develop stronger skills for group mat and reformer teaching.

100% Attendance • Passing Score on all Assessments • Submission of all logged hours
